    TN50: Most Important Work Tool

Posted by F Johnson on 12th Jan 2022

I work as a private security officer and this light is my most important tool. I've used it for about an hour per day for a year. I've used 10 different flashlights for work, and hands down, this is the most useful light I've ever carried. Worth every penny if you need to rely on a light.

BEAM: Perfect combo of flood and spot. Some lights will fill a room, but are useless outdoors beyond 30 feet. Some lights will throw a beam 200 yards, but are useless in a small indoor space, like looking through a straw. The beam on this light never lets me down, anywhere, any distance, inside or outdoors. Lights up an entire room for a search AND throws a spot over 100 yards. Check out the videos on YouTube. Unless you're doing marine search in a helicopter, this light has you covered.

For comparison, I own an Imalent MS06, which has a higher lumen rating. However, in use, the beam of the TN50 seems much brighter, across a larger flood area. The TN50 also throws much farther than the MS06.

Likewise, the TN50 sustains high output at a much lower temperature in hand, for a much longer time, than the MS06.

SIZE: I have carried every size and shape of light on my belt. This "soda can" form factor is the best. It never gets in the way, running, walking, sitting, standing, driving. Doesn't bounce, doesn't stab my leg. Great balance in hand.

DEFENSIVE TOOL: The beam brightness, throw distance, and flood area of this light stops people cold if needed. On high beam or strobe, it is impossible to look at this light, day or night. This is a very useful tool for keeping people at a distance when needed. Most people will instantly freeze in this beam at night, even 50 yards away.

BATTERIES: This light made me a fan of rechargeable lights. I like the convenience of not loading and unloading batteries anymore. True, the batteries cannot be replaced when they eventually won't hold a charge. But after a year, they still have close to 100% capacity; when they die, I will have gotten my money's worth. The light charges quickly with the included charger. I charge it once per week.

    CONTROLS: One button. Simple, intuitive.

QUALITY: Highest quality materials, optics, machining, switch.

ONLY COMPLAINT: The only flaw with this light is that, like many others, it can turn on accidentally when holstered or in a pocket when sitting. It happens too often with this light. Many times, I've been unaware that the light was on in the holster, until I smelled smoke or even saw tons of smoke. To stop this, I made a circular guard around the switch (used a 3D printer, 18mm OD x 16mm ID). The photos show the guard I added, plus the burned holster which convinced me to do it. If you're going to be sitting, I'd recommend something similar.

    Definitely Bright

Posted by Bryan on 13th May 2019

It's a bright flashlight but I hardly believe it shines to over 400 meters or 1200 feet. It's more a flood light and not a beam shooter. I think it's great for a campsite and checking the immediate surroundings , but it's not good for a search light. At the discount I paid , it's fine , but not at full price.

    Very bright - short term

Posted by Unknown on 7th Feb 2019

It is an amazingly bright light, but only for 80 seconds.
Hardly worth it for just a short duration.
I am considering getting the TN36, since it stays at 11000 lumens for a lot longer duration.

    The Power of Light!

    Posted by maginnis@hotmail.com on 25th Jan 2019

I do not need this flashlight, I want this flashlight. I like to open my front or back door and make daylight.
It is heavier and fatter (diameter) than I expected from the images but it matches the specs so it's my bad for not comparing the given dimensions to my perception

ThruNite TN50 CW has a pleasant flood beam, even in Turbo S mode. We need this type of light to track and eliminate flying food moths and other pests in our house. This magnificent wonder of LED and battery technology, the ThruNite TN50, is exactly what we NEEDED. Thanks ThruNite!
